From D.C. to Staten Island: Advocating for Independent Grocers

Last week, ASG joined independent grocers from across the country in Washington, D.C. for the 2025 NGA Fly-In, meeting with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to advocate for critical industry priorities. Discussions focused on protecting the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), lowering credit card swipe fees, and ensuring fair pricing across the supply chain.

Following these efforts in D.C., attention turned to Staten Island, where community and business leaders gathered to oppose proposed SNAP cuts. The event reinforced the importance of this bipartisan program in supporting both families in need and the independent grocery stores that serve them.
